The Icarus Trophy is a massive 2 week long unsupported air race on paramotors. It launches with the pioneers race across the USA on the 12th of October 2015
We all start in one place with a paramotor on our backs and finish up in another one – a bloody long way away. In between these two points one of the greatest adventures on the planet is waiting to slap you about the chops.
Unsupported means you’ll be flying with everything you need to survive strapped to your very person. If you get lost, it’s down to you to get yourself unlost.
The Icarus Trophy is a real timed race but first it’s an adventure. That means you don’t have to be super competitive to take part. We always find the people who come in last have the best stories to tell.
This summer a brand new flying show and social event for the paragliding and paramotoring community is hitting the UK calendar.
Situated in a picturesque country-central location and in the landing fields of the popular paragliding site Llangollen, North Wales will be Parafest 2015.
The camp and showground are at the base of Llangollen hill and there are plenty of other free-flying sites in the surrounding area that are within easy driving distance. We also have a flying field for paramotors and plenty of unrestricted airspace.
With paramotor and paragliding trader’s and schools exhibiting, a market area, kids zone, chainsaw carving, other sideshow attractions, caterers, all- weekend camping and a bar with live music in the marquee on Friday and Saturday nights Parafest 2015 will be a weekend to remember whatever the weather.
Since the beginning of the year Bailey Aviation have been designing and developing a new PPG 2 stroke engine, known as the Hornet. The Hornet has been designed due to many customer requests for an ‘Ultimate’ 2 stroke engine that is powerful, lightweight and reliable.
The engine is a twin cylinder design that is very compact and lightweight. It will fit in the ‘higher power’ end of the market and be primarily aimed at slalom competition flying.
Utilising a helical gear reduction system, centrifugal clutch and manual pull start arrangement, power output is around 28-30hp (TBC) and all up weight is around 15.5kg.
They will be officially launching this new engine at the Coupe-Icare exhibition in St Hilaire in France from 19th-22nd September. Why not come and see it for yourself – for details of the Coupe-Icare exhibition, please visit their official website here:- www.coupe-icare.org/GB_home.html
Specification and prices for the Hornet will be relesed over the coming weeks, so please make sure to re-visit their web site for the latest updates. http://www.baileyaviation.com
