RedPaddle Inflatable SUP gets on the podium when competing against carbon boards

The Ultimate inflatable stand up paddle board proves its quality in the toughest tests.

Red Paddle Co customer James Bradshaw paddled his 10’6 inflatable to the finals of the non-pro fleet at the NZ SUP Nationals in spectacular style, gaining one of the loudest cheers of the day as he crossed the finish line in 3rd place, ahead of a full line-up of high tech and expensive racing boards.

James had never raced before, but quickly learnt the necessary skills resulting in him winning his semi-final outright (spurred on considerably by some slightly condescending comments from other racers regarding his choice of ride, who then had to eat their words as it left them in its wake…)

Held at Takapuna Beach in Auckland on Sunday, the event took a welcome step away from the more elitist and equipment-dependent long distance racing formats. The event was a Battle of the Paddle format with the top 5 from each heat progressing to the next round.

Many spectators refused to believe his board was an inflatable – until it was deflated!

On the water it looked just as rigid and fast as the $3000+ carbon race boards he was beating, and in a league of its own in its fast cornering ability.

Red Paddle Co first hit the scene in 2007 and have been leading the way in inflatable SUP board production ever since. Our double layer construction combined with attention to detail with our internal build allows our boards to be rigid as well as durable for use in rivers, open sea, fishing, surf and white water.

No matter what type of paddling you want to do, there is a Red Paddle Co board that will fit your needs. For more information on what’s available visit www.redpaddleco.com

Starboard SUP riders dominate the 3rd and final round of the Frostbite SUP race series

Beautiful sunny weather greeted the 40+ paddle boarders arriving at Aquasports in Redhill in Surrey yesterday for the final action in the Frostbite SUP series. Windless conditions made for some close racing. Starboard Race Team members took the top spots in all divisions.
There was a great mix of first time racers and seasoned elite level paddlers. It was great to see Aquasports embracing SUP and off the back of the racing they manage to fill a beginners SUP session from people watching the action unfold on the water. Proof if any was needed that getting the sport exposed out on the water is what drives demand and sales.
A big thank you must go to Colin Elston and his family for running such a great event as well as Sam and her team at Aquasports who were so accommodating and allowed the event to practically take over the centre for the day.

NZ Paddle Company Enjoys the Red Air Inflatable SUP

The ideal all-round paddleboard for the heavier paddler.

The latest addition to the Red Air range stands out as the only quality all-round inflatable paddleboard at 32″ wide, and is ideal for the heavier rider, or simply anybody wanting just that little bit more stability in their ride.

Better still, it has the progressive rocker line of the Red 10′, which basically means it has a lot of curve preshaped in to it, making it very very nice indeed for surfing. It will catch even the smallest waves with ease, yet it has enough curve in both its rocker and its plan shape to be really quite comfortable in medium sized surf too.

Super stable, really easy to use, and with glide of the kind you only get from inflatable boards. Remember the first time you used a mountain bike with shock absorbers? That smoooooth feeling? That’s what we’re talking about here. This is a great all-round SUP for learning, cruising, surfing, exploring, and general family fun. You can pretty much do anything on it! Full EVA deck for under foot comfort and three moulded fins finish off this fantastic family cruiser, that’s super durable and still small enough to be packed away in a small bag at the end of the session.

All Red Air boards come with a carrying bag (with rucksack straps), a repair kit (not that you’ll need it but better safe than sorry), and a powerful h-tech pump fitted with a pressure gauge so you know when you’ve got enough air inside.
